Food in the City

Food hasn’t always been thought of as something a city should take action on.  But in recent years, a growing number of cities across Canada and the world have begun to see themselves as part of having the answers on questions of food.  There are many ways that cities can contribute to a more food secure community.  For example, zoning mechanisms or tax incentives could be used to attract grocery stores to a food desert.

This website documents some of the ways that a more food secure Winnipeg can be achieved, and the role that the City can play in accomplishing this vision.
